riddle painting regarding the origins and history of the word "Moses"

To elaborate, all the items, pose, composition, etc are variations of the ancient word "Mes" or "Moses". The book of Exodus, every few words has a word game with the word "mes". The Tablets (in Egyptian) are a variation of the word "mes" as is, the portion where Moses is an enemy of God, or the basket of rushes, or the veil, or the annointing with the forskin, the Messianic pose, etc. This made the story of Exodus, when spoken aloud a repetitive chant of the word "mes". It was thought, at one time the more meanings a word had the more magic it was, so a word with many many meanings chanted was big magic. Maybe not so much today, but it does lead to some interesting ideas that have floated through history even into the present.

Daily DeviationMoses by *Kourete is an impressive painting loaded with cryptic symbolism. The extraordinary realism in the flesh and folds of cloth and the contemporary approach to a classic subject brings this deviant's work to new heights. (Featured by ^stigmatattoo)

pretty good. i like the detail on the cloth, body and legs. the sky is well done, i think you used atmospheric perspective very well, but i don't really understand why he is standing like he is.

and is there reason for his face being veiled?

His suspension and the veil are related. Check on the passage regarding Moses and the veil (formerly translated as "horns of light" which is why Michelangelo's Moses has horns). The word for veil is key here.

I love the texture and the colors. It looks very classic, which is something you don't see a lot of anymore. Fantastic work.

Your grasp of color and texture is startling - the wrinkles both in his skin and in the unwinding scroll are incredible. I would be interested to know why the Law that he holds is blindfolding him...

I hide myself within my flower,
That, wearing on your breast,
You, unsuspecting, wear me too,
And angels know the rest.

I hide myself within my flower,
That, fading from your vase,
You, unsuspecting, feel for me
Almost a loneliness.

His left arm looks a little bit too long, but otherwise, lovely painting. The colour of the skin is beautiful.

Sticks and stones may break my bones, but whips and chains excite me. So tie me up and throw me down and show me that you like me!

Incredible.
I can't believe you did this in just 8 hours, it is very impressive work.
I also liked a lot how his face is covered up.
You are very, very talented.
