I don't know why, but this one always has the strongest impact on me... Maybe it's the color choices in the composition, or the lines of light leading the eye to the figure, or the "frame" of the statue, or something else, but this picture gets me every time I see it. Awesome job!

Don't say I'm evil, it ain't PC!

For me it is the statue gazing away into the distance without answering, unmoved by the agonizing pose of the human, that looks as if he had prayed to the god(dess?) to speak to him (or her?). There is a tension between the beauty of the painting, the landscape, the body, and the pain of the pose, the loneliness of the wide vista.

For whatever reason, it's beautiful, perhaps 'cause it's a great work! :d :)

You can feel the desperation, without even looking at his face. To be able to do that with just the body is so wonderful. I love the concept here, and of course the execution is unparalleled.

I love this painting. It's a break from your normal strongly-lit figures against black, and the landscape is refreshing. It's cool to see the body placed in an environment.

For now we see as through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.
